Raised in Atlanta's College Park, Monica's talent has always been nurtured by her family and her church. She began singing in her local choir at the age of four in the tradition of Whitney Houston, Aretha Franklin and Rachelle Farrell. News of her remarkable talents traveled fast and she entered a number of talent shows, winning more than 20 awards. Producer Dallas Austin, whose credits include Madonna, Boyz II Men, TLC and Grace Jones, happened to catch one of her performances and offered her a contract on Rowdy Records, a division of Arista. |
